Gold Cup 2005 Comes to Qwest Field
Following the US’s victory over Panama on June 8th, it will be another two months before the next qualifier for the 2006 World Cup. Before you freak out and ask how you can satisfy your soccer jones, I give you the 2005 Gold Cup.
Ever other year, the top 12 teams in the CONCACAF play in a tournament called the Gold Cup. Two years ago, Mexico defeated Brazil, the same Brazil that went on to win the World Cup. These are the best of the best national teams.
The US is in Group B with Costa Rica, Canada and Cuba. Matches will be held July 7th and 9th at Qwest Field. The US should steamroll their way through this group.
Group A consists of: Columbia, Honduras, Trinidad & Tobago and Panama
Group C consists of: Mexico, Guatemala, South Africa and Jamacia
The balance of the schedule can be found here and the finals will be July 24th at Giants Stadium.
