Closer Look At The Hawks

Think the M's wouldn't like a middle order of Matsunaka, Jojima and Zuleta? They are only the top three home run hitters in the Pacific League with 27, 20 and 26 respectively. The thing is, it doesn't stop with the long ball.

These three amigos are leading the Pacific League in just about all offensive categories. Though there is more to the Hawks than their 4, 5 and 6 hitters. Consider that 5 of the top 10 leaders in runs scored are Hawks, or that 4 appear in the top 10 in batting average, or that the top four players in total bases are Hawks.

Nobuhiko Matsunaka, won the 2004 Triple Crown in the Pacific League with .358 average, 44 homers and 120 RBIs
2005 thru 7/3
1st in HRs and RBIs
2nd in Total Bases, Slugging Percentage, Walks and Production

Kenji Jojima
, typically follows Matsunaka in the 5 hole
2005 thru 7/3
2nd in Hits
3rd in HRs, Production, Slugging Percentage, Total Bases
Ranking in the top 10 in Doubles, Triples and Batting Average

Julio Zuleta, from the 6th spot in the lineup
2005 thru 7/3
1st in Production, Total Bases and Slugging Percentage
2nd in HRs
3rd in Hits
Tied with teammate Tony Bautista for 3rd in RBIs
4th in Batting Average
